CryptoGuard OTT solution

CryptoGuard OTT is the affordable and scalable on-premise End-to-end IPTV / OTT solution that offers any-size operator to cost-effectively deliver advanced TV features to multiple screens. It also includes CryptoGuard multi-DRM content protection approved by major studios.

The complete solution is in-house developed by CryptoGuard which ensures its reliability and eliminates complicated and expensive integration of systems and new features from third party suppliers. This makes CryptoGuard OTT a cost-effective, time saving and easy to deploy on-premise IPTV / OTT solution. CryptoGuard OTT System Overview

Transcoder

Features:

The Transcoder converts input streams to several different Adaptive Bit Rates (ABR).

For example, one 4 Mbps input stream is converted to 2 Mbps, 1 Mbps and 500 kbps streams which are automatically selected depending on the user’s bandwidth, permitting little buffering when streaming high-resolution feeds (begins with low-resolution and increases).

Transcodes assets (TV channel or movie)
Supports mobile SD, SD, HD ready, Full HD, and 4K
Normally 3 speed profiles (kbps) are used per asset
Each speed profile can be packaged in HLS Apple, HLS Microsoft and/or MPEG DASH streams
This generates 3 streams per asset
Multiple audio tracks
AC for sound and H264 or H265* for Video
Dolby supported on AC
Multiple subtitling CEA608

*Many legacy devices do not support H265

Packager & Encryptor

Features:

The Packager packages the video streams to HTTP deliverable format
Both HLS and mpeg-DASH video formats are supported.
The Encryptor encrypts the streams with encryption keys provided from the CryptoGuard multi-DRM key server

Origin server & Storage

Features:

The Origin Server responds the video streams to incoming requests from clients.
All storage for Catchup, TimeShift, VoD and nPVR in the origin server can be on-the-fly upgradable.
Software-based load balancer

CDN Server

Features:

The CDN Server manages network traffic and provides QoS on IP networks. It is used for example, to provide low-latency on critical network traffic, such as video delivery, while providing best effort service to non-critical services, such as web traffic.
Additional private CDN Servers can be deployed to extend the footprint in different geographical regions.
The requested content by users is stored at the local CDN’s to save bandwidth and for lower latency.

DRM Key Server

Features:

The DRM Key Server provides encrypted keys to secure both linear and non-linear content in the origin server.

Provides decryption keys to authorized users.
Supports the most popular native DRM formats
Google–Widevine | Apple–FairPlay | Microsoft–PlayReady
All content rights is managed with the DRM server
Other features are concurrency limitation, geo-restrictions, allowed storage time etc.

OTT Server

Features:

The OTT Server provides text, images, trailers and metadata for all content enabling users to browse between live TV channels, catch-up and video on demand. The OTT Server also performs login and authentication of users.

Feeds all clients with VOD metadata, EPG info, menus etc.
Housekeep Catch-up and Time shift assets in the CDN network
Controls users and rights in the CryptoGuard CAS and DRM system
Maintains information about users viewing pattern
Controls ingest and housekeeping of VOD assets
Controls the entire data flow in the entire system
Interfaces with third party subscriber management systems
Software-based load balancer

Core & HE Server

Features:

The Core and Headend Server handles customers, channel packages and configuration.
Is a common server for CAS (linear) and DRM (non-linear)
Can also control STBs with CryptoGuard Smart Cards or CryptoGuard Cardless
Unified head end to control right for both broadcast and broadband
Contains Subscriber Management System to control Broadcast and OTT
Contains hardware security to operate secure also in less secure environments
